Giles Ford incorporates poetry into his art practice and these poems appear (and disappear) in the process and layering of his Fossilarium series on show at the University of the Creative Arts on Faulkner Road in Farnham (26th to 31st August). Giles has a first class masters degree in Poetry and was shortlisted for the Bridport Poetry Prize in 2007, 2008 and 2011. Here is one that accompanies a stone sculpture in the show. His poetry book ‘Father Time’ published in 2011 can be found online at Foyles & Amazon.

Stone

You have come a long way

don’t know where from

how long you travelled

what route you took

I only know that you came to me

glistening blue

in the Charmouth sun

I know you are one

in a million handfuls

jangled by the froth

chipped and chattered

in the seawave of stones

penduluming the beach

washing in and out

oceanic metronome
